Moving Towards a Center vs. Living in a Perimeter.

People often try to approach life by putting perimeters around their actions to restrict themselves from doing bad. However, this often leads to failure and shame since it’s impossible to perfectly live within a perimeter.

This series of photos explores the idea of moving towards a center rather than living in a perimeter. When adopting a center-focused perspective, you’re less likely to feel shame and discouragement when you inevitably fall short of your goals and desires. Instead, you recognize that it’s part of being human and refocus on the direction you’d rather move towards.

This same principle can be applied to creativity. While many people try to create art inside perimeters to stop themselves from creating things they dislike, you could arguably find more meaning and pride in your work by moving towards a desired center instead. With a center-focused perspective, both the “good” and “bad” art can be embraced to help you discover, grow, and move towards that center.

The spiral shape in these photographs represents life when it’s lived by moving towards a center. Contrasting things coexist along this spiral, experiencing ups and downs and different emotions and relationships with one another. Instead of shutting certain things outside of this spiral, the focus is on moving towards a center.
